Lists give me purpose in life. I would be lost and directionless without a neon coloured post-it to tell me what I have to do next. Included in my lists are such inanities as “take a shower” and “clip nails” and “lunch”. At first glance, this may seem stupid but I find that it really helps me get through the day, one teeny tiny task at a time. Besides that, no matter how superficial the task is you always feel just a little bit better about yourself when you can cross one of them off which will give you incentive to get the more important stuff done! See? It’s a fool proof plan…just like the buddy system, it just never fails! And if you ever feel like you’re pushing the boundary of what is acceptable to put on a list just remember, what would Jesus do? (I had to say that) But really, attainable goals is where it’s at! The Heart May Be on the Left, But It’s Always Right

I just have to say, that the only person allowed to give my eulogy and/or make a toast in my honour is the wonderful fellow that thought of the gem of wisdom that is my title for today’s post. Hello Sunshine

June 6, 2008 · 1 Comment

Today it is a hot and heavy 38 degrees outside (with humidex) and although I’m prone to using this site to complain about the injustices of everyday life and we currently don’t have the air conditioning on here at home, I’m using this particular post to be grateful…about things. I’ll call it my belated thanksgiving. I only really have one today. I know soon I’ll get tired of this heat (as witnessed in one of those little pink diary entries when a day much like this one incited pages of expletive filled rambling about the iniquity of heat waves), but today I’m glad that we finally felt a real summer day, complete with the potential of sunburn, heatstroke and sweat stains. I feel like I’m back in Chennai.

How’s that for being positive? (Look at me go!)

Hickory Dickory Dock

I have a to do list that’s a mile long which includes such inanities as: organizing my Indian clothes and looking through the last 4 years of pictures on my mom’s computer to find photos of 10 kids that compose her very first graduating class. Yes…the inanity is blinding and very soon I’ll have to conduct some sort of crazy experiment in rodent choreography to avoid becoming completely comatose. To be honest Internet, blogging was NOT on my to do list even though it’s been days (gasp!) since my last post and even longer since I changed my picture of the day (I have a very good excuse for that and it’s coming up soon!). Anyway, I just had to come here to tell you three sucky things that happened to me in the last couple of days. (more…)
